Science wins in Texas

A few days ago I wrote about the Texas school board holding hearings on whether to force schools to purchase science textbooks that include creationism.  Given past history with the school board, I was not hopeful that science and reason would prevail.  But they did.

Texas has a disturbing history of allowing religion to encroach on education (for example, here, here and here).  Over the next two days the school board is meeting, and one of the topics is selecting instructional materials for science classrooms.
